Rob Jackson: Teambuilding With a Purpose

The benefits of teambuilding

Over a decade ago I walked away from a successful career in banking because I recognized a niche in the marketplace for personal development to train people to become better professionals.

It was a big risk, but my mantra is “Change the world, don’t just play the game.” So I launched a new career in professional development, teambuilding, and DISC personality training.

My initial focus was on corporations and small companies. I taught and trained in communications skills, leadership styles, management, and presentation skills based on an understanding of personality types.

Charity and the Return-on-Investment

But my passion is teambuilding with a purpose and that purpose is philanthropy at the corporate level. When I signed on to the company my one proviso was that we had to develop a philanthropic arm to the whole operation.

When I became the CEO, I developed charitable teambuilding workshops based on the notion that while you’re giving back to your community you can still have fun. We partner with companies to train their workers in professional development techniques, but the major component is charitable giving.

Our donations run the gamut from bikes, wheelchairs, and wagons to stuffed animals, school supplies, and hospital care packages. We partner with food banks to whom we donate dry goods, canned foods, and water. Magnovo works with animal shelters to provide forever-homes for pets. We work with disabled veterans and a variety of other organizations to give back to local communities in the cities where our clients are based.

The business of kindness

In today’s marketplace, corporate social responsibility is now part of most company business models. Progressive companies recognize the benefits of being good corporate neighbors.

Magnovo Training Group helps with this goal and our approach is turnkey. We customize each workshop to suit the goals of our clients. Our facilitators coordinate every aspect of the workshop including the liaison with the charitable organization chosen to receive the donations.

Our workshops are usually at least a couple of hours long. We divide large groups of employees into small teams each of which engages in a bit of friendly competition to “earn” the different components or parts they need to assemble their donations.

Teambuilding impact

For example, during our stuffed animal workshop, also known as Rescue Buddies, each participant literally stuffs and shapes the toy animals. The toys are then donated to traumatized kids in need of emotional rescue [after a car accident or house fire].

At the end of each workshop, a representative from the charity talks to the group about the potential impact their donations will have. Their constituents include low-income families, disabled veterans, deployed personnel, and the like.

It’s usually at this point that the company employees have an epiphany. They realize that the workshop they enjoyed wasn’t just about fun and games and teambuilding. They understand that what they spent the afternoon doing will change many lives in a tremendously positive way.

The Magnovo brand

Magnovo Training Group In The NewsMany of our clients are Fortune 500 companies. And our reputation is such that our facilitators travel across the country and around the world. One of our recent assignments involved a leadership development workshop for a cruise line in Italy. And one of our most hair-raising adventures occurred in Hawaii after an earthquake. We arrived in time to experience quite a few aftershocks!

Our teambuilding and professional development training couldn’t happen if I didn’t have a phenomenal team of facilitators. We usually get requests 1 to 2 months before the main event, but we’ve also delivered the goods with just a few hours notice.

We operate like a well-oiled machine and hit the mark every time. And that’s not just about our professionalism–it’s about our commitment to charitable giving. It’s the fuel that keeps us fired up. We’ve proven time and time again that giving back makes you and your company move forward.

Magnovo Training Group Facilitates Charity Bike Building Event for Salesforce

CHICAGO, IL, May 21, 2018– Magnovo Training Group, a professional development and team building company located in the heart of Indianapolis, is privileged to work with corporations and organizations throughout the United States. Their charity team building series is a unique way to pair non-profit organizations in need of support with companies looking to benefit their communities.

Recently, a Bike-a-Thon Bicycle Team Building was planned in Chicago, IL where Salesforce leaders and their clients participated in various team building exercises. When they were finished, they had built four bikes for the Union League Boys & Girls Club. According to Anastasia Hernandez, assistant director of Club One, the organization was thrilled to be a part of the event. “Our staff said it was well organized and of course our kids loved it!”

At the conclusion of the event, the participants presented the bikes to the youth, helped them adjust their seat height and see first-hand the difference they were making. According to Magnovo Training Group’s facilitator Erin Worman, there were tears. “I was able to give good news about the donation of the bikes and then a brief speech was delivered explaining the immense impact these bikes have on the children in their club.”

Helping others can bond co-workers together as they team up to help someone else. When you see executives working together with their employees in our charity bike build knowing it will go to a deserving child – it’s pretty impactful! Bicycle team building is the hottest team building event right now, and for a very good reason!

Magnovo Training Group Facilitates Event to Benefit Morristown Neighborhood House despite Snow Storm

MORRISTOWN, NJ, April 11, 2018– Magnovo Training Group, a professional development and team building company located in the heart of Indianapolis, is privileged to work with corporations and organizations throughout the United States. Their charity team building series is a unique way to pair non-profit organizations in need of support with companies looking to benefit their communities.

Recently, a Wagon Builders™ Team Building Workshop was planned in Morristown, NJ. However, the day of the event saw an unexpected nor’easter enter the region, which dumped between 18 and 24 inches of snow in the city. Although attendance was lower than originally planned, Magnovo made some adjustments and was still able to host a meaningful and impactful event.

Magnovo Training Group’s President, Rob Jackson acknowledged the challenging weather conditions, but noted that none of these hurdles took away from the energy and purpose of the event: to have fun, team build and give back. “It was also a true testament to Magnovo’s commitment to do everything in our power to deliver a workshop, to the client’s needs, with purpose and fun – no matter what,” he said.

The event produced 11 wagons full of items which were donated to the Morristown Neighborhood House’s STEM program. “Although I was not at the event due to the snow storm, the wagons we received were terrific!  All of the items inside were absolutely wonderful as well and go along with our STEM programming,” said Jacquelyn Looby, Director of Volunteer Services, Cornerstone Family Programs & Morristown Neighborhood House. Holiday Team Building Offers Alternative to Traditional Company Gatherings

INDIANAPOLIS, IN, October 10, 2017– Research indicates that happiness increases with experiences, rather than things. Your company may be planning a holiday party to celebrate the end of a hardworking year – or kick start the beginning of a new one. However, holiday team building contributions make a difference in the lives of others; and yours, and can be a welcome alternative to the traditional holiday gathering.

“People feel great when they are making a difference. These same people oftentimes dread the awkward holiday company party,” said Rob Jackson, President of Magnovo Training Group. “We feel the holidays are a perfect opportunity to enhance team cohesion as well as provide teams with an experience, rather than just another mediocre holiday party,” he added.

Workshops offered by Magnovo take place in a relaxed and fun environment. They offer a memorable alterative to the many demanding and stressful moments during the holiday season. There are several options available; but some of the most popular include Mission: Military Care, Puttin’ Pantry, Holiday Bike Building and Rescue Buddies. Each offer a different recipient; military service members, local hungry citizens, or less fortunate children. And, each workshop inspires participants with various methods and activities.

The holiday season is a prime opportunity to create a lasting memory for your team, help them relieve stress and encourage them to work together more effectively. The unique opportunity encourages everyone to engage and work together in order to give back.

Magnovo Training Group Launches Millennial Connections Workshop

Workshop Aims to Create Generational Bridges

INDIANAPOLIS, IN, July 11, 2017– Magnovo Training Group, in an effort to bridge the gap between millennials and other generations in the workforce, has launched a new workshop aimed at a younger, millennial audience. The Millennial Connections workshop was created by Magnovo Director of Training and Development, Steve Sweeny, in hopes of creating better working relationships between millennials and their older colleagues.

“There are a lot of walls as it relates to generations working together. Assumptions and realities have created tension, anxiety and relational barriers that don’t need to exist,” Sweeny said. “Those things can be mitigated with better understanding and by working on our mindset.” And, that’s exactly what this workshop aims to do.

Instructors hope to inspire participants and teach them strategies for making connections. The workshop content is based on established psychological theories and sound management practices. “We can, in our workshop environments, help to make people aware of their own biases as well as others in a way that is safe and fun,” said Sweeny. “Gaining the ability to understand and properly address where those differences create tension, bad work relationships and ultimately a less cohesive/productive team will only help make a company better,” he added.

Sweeny is excited to see his concept come to fruition and is optimistic about the workshop’s ability to bring generations together in the workforce. “It’s my desire that people get along. I want everyone to be happy. That makeup has driven me to find ways to connect with people. And then I want to connect them with each other.  I truly believe that as people grow in their own positive treatment of others, they exact change in those people.”

Magnovo Training Group focuses on providing valuable training in a fun, interactive environment. A Millennial Connections workshop can help created generational bridges within your organization that illuminate a clear path forward for teams, departments, and the entire company. Magnovo’s dynamic programs are tailored to your team’s current and future needs. Professional facilitators are able maintain a fun-filled environment while still carrying out clients’ program goals. Magnovo Training Group Launches New Charity Team Building Workshop

Mission: Sports Care! Aims to Help Local Youth Sports Leagues in Your Community

Each year, kids in every community sign up for local sports leagues that offer valuable life lessons as well as important health benefits. Unfortunately, most of these leagues are under-funded and have to rely on donations. When donations don’t come through, parents who can afford to will pitch in. But for kids whose families can’t contribute, it’s game over and they don’t get to play.
That’s where Magnovo Training Group can help. Magnovo’s newest charity team building workshop, Mission: Sports Care, is the company’s way of helping local youth sports leagues in your community. By partnering with Magnovo, you can make a difference in the lives of young, local athletes by scheduling a Mission: Sports Care charity workshop.

Your group or business schedules the workshop and Magnovo Training Group handles the rest. Your team will gather at a predetermined time and place and participate in a variety of team building exercises with one end goal in mind; assembling the donations they’ll be sending to local groups.

Everyone knows it’s good for kids to get outside and play sports. With the childhood obesity epidemic growing every year, they need all the opportunities they can get for being active. But the benefits to kids who play in youth sports leagues go well beyond the physical. Equally important are the social lessons they learn and the personal traits they strengthen when they play on a team. Not only does Magnovo’s Mission: Sports Care promote the importance of youth athletics, it also helps build team comradery and morale within your participating group.

And what will the donated items be? Sports equipment for young children. Magnovo arranges for the equipment to go to local kids through the community groups who run their sports leagues. They do great work for our little team members- you can help support their efforts – and build your own team skills while you’re at it!

If you’d like to support youth sports leagues in your community, call to schedule or submit a request to schedule your Mission: Sports Care workshop today. Watch our video to learn more!
