Banner Health Foundation Accepts Hospital Helper Care Packages

Scottsdale, AZ – Magnovo Training Group recently facilitated a Hospital Helper charity teambuilding workshop in Scottsdale. The gracious recipient, Banner Health Foundation, received 25 care packages to use for babies and patients at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix. The intended use of the care packages is for infants and their families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, or NICU.

The eight teams assembled packages that would be appreciated by those with premature or ill infants in the NICU. According to Banner Health Foundation, the items of comfort were much appreciated and will be put to good use.

“Thank you for these care packages that help make life better for our tiniest patients and their families during a stay in the NICU,” said Andy Kramer Petersen, President & CEO of the Banner Health Foundation. “This kind of generosity from the community reminds families they are not alone during what can be a very scary time with their new baby.”

Hospital Helpers is designed for groups who want to show they care, who have a connection to the health care industry, or who want to help a particular facility in their community. Packages contain anything someone stuck in a hospital bed might need. Sponsors can choose where their donation packages will go, and Magnovo will customize the package contents to fit the destination.

Magnovo partners with businesses and organizations of all sizes to provide various teambuilding workshops to their associates. The charity team building events not only develop a stronger and more cohesive team, but each one has a philanthropic twist — giving back through local charities and community organizations. These workshops were created with the goal of inspiring significant, positive change within organizations and communities.

Established in 2001, the Banner Health Foundation secures and stewards charitable contributions to advance Banner Health’s mission, investing in facilities and programs that support advancements in care, research, health education, patient services and a variety of community programs.

Tampa Police Department Accepts Donation to Aid Traumatized Children

Magnovo Training Group had the recent privilege to facilitate a charity teambuilding workshop in Tampa, Florida. In just a few hours, the event was able to create 35 stuffed animals for the Tampa Police Department to use in situations involving children.

Police officers must often interact with children and because of the circumstances, many of these interactions can be frightening or stressful for the children involved. Stuffed animals are a small way that children can be comforted and reassured during these times. According to Tampa Police Spokeswoman, Janelle McGregor, the organization is beyond appreciative of the donation that will benefit kids in their communities.

“We are very grateful for these stuffed animals, and the community members who carefully and compassionately constructed them,” McGregor said. “They will help bring a sense of solace to kids who are in traumatic situations, while reassuring the young victims that our officers will protect them from any further harm.”

Magnovo Partners to Provide Care Packages to Military Members

Magnovo Training Group recently partnered with the Blue Star Mothers of Northern Virginia to provide care packages to military members currently stationed overseas.

As a part of a Mission: Military Care charity teambuilding workshop and with the help of corporate donations, the Blue Star Mother of Northern Virginia were able to assemble several packages, including some that were sent to two special operations troops and to sailors on the USS Reagan.

As the holidays approach, charity teambuilding workshops coordinated by Magnovo Training Group become even more pertinent. “The goal is to create care packages for military service men and women who’re stationed far from home; and during the holiday season, this is even more important,” said Rob Jackson, Magnovo President.

The group used the opportunity to gather, bake cookies, wrap gifts and assemble the care packages together. Not only was it a night of fellowship, but also a night to give back.

The Northern Virginia Chapter of The Blue Star Mothers of Northern America, Inc. is a non-partisan, non-political, non-sectarian organization. It is comprised of mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, foster mothers and female legal guardians who have children serving in the military, guard or reserves, or children who are veterans. Their mission is to support each other and their children while promoting patriotism.

Magnovo President and Wife Volunteer at Local Women’s Shelter

Magnovo Training Group’s President, Rob Jackson and his wife, April, recently volunteered their time to serve food at a local women’s shelter in Indianapolis.

“One of the biggest missions at Magnovo Training Group is charity, and to give back to others,” Jackson said. “This is a personal philosophy that April and I have brought directly into the business.” Magnovo specializes in charity teambuilding workshops that are fun and educational but also are philanthropic and give back to the community at the same time.

This theme of helping your local community is something that Jackson feels strongly about. “Our charity teambuilding workshops allow us to partner with various organizations and give back on a much larger scale, however, every little bit makes a difference,” he said. Jackson and his wife work hard to set an example for not only their clients, but their employees as well.

“Magnovo makes donations and gives back to communities all year long,” said Jackson. “Personally, we also try to give back, donate and volunteer as much as we are able, not only around the holidays, and encourage others to do the same.”

Magnovo Training Group Facilitates Event that Donates More Than 200 Bikes to Four Charities Working with Children

Holiday Teambuilding and Charitable Giving Makes a Difference in the Community

Food. Drinks. Decorations. Music. Gifts. Games. The flurry of activity around planning holiday office parties can be dizzying and exhausting. Office parties are a great break from the daily grind, but afterward, there’s often little to show.
This year, consider making a new resolution, to break the mold and do something different. A charitable teambuilding workshop is a fantastic way to spread holiday cheer internally and externally.

What exactly is a charitable teambuilding workshop?

Charitable teambuilding has been proven to strengthen staff relationships. Over the course of an afternoon, staff members will invest their time and energy into a project that directly benefits the community.

Holiday teambuilding events that involve charitable giving are ideal because they are:

  • Relaxed and free-flowing
  • A tremendous antidote to holiday blues
  • A chance to sharpen staff’s communications and collaborative skills
  • Great equalizers [they break the ice between superiors and subordinates]
  • Showcases for unknown skills and talents
  • Calls-to-action to help the community

Why charitable giving matters

For corporate America, holidays in the new millennium aren’t what they used to be. It’s no longer enough to donate a paltry basket of food at Thanksgiving. And, passing the hat once throughout the rest of the holiday season won’t pass muster either.

Being a good corporate neighbor is almost compulsory today. Companies are expected to care about their communities and the citizens they impact while pursuing profits.

When mixed with charitable events, holiday teambuilding can build goodwill in four distinct ways:
1. Among investors – Generosity is a signal that the company is healthy and thriving. After all, if you’ve got resources to give away that must mean things are going great, right?
2. Among employees, professionally – Willingness to open up both the company’s schedule and purse translates as an investment in staff. Employee engagement explodes when they are allowed to add value to the business outside the company headquarters.
3. Among employees, personally – Morale soars among employees who feel connected to a company that’s connected to the community. In today’s heartless, dog-eat-dog marketplace, charitable holiday teambuilding activities stand out like a beacon of hope. That is a benefit to a company’s staff –emotionally and psychologically.
4. Among community leaders – They may not be stockholders, but everyone in the community becomes a stakeholder when contacted charitably. It’s as simple as asking them what they need and then providing it. That’s an investment with a solid ROI.

The best holiday teambuilding activities

Practice can make perfect, but only if you practice, practice, practice. Magnovo’s charitable workshops are great ways to practice leadership and communications skills.

Assembling bicycles at Bike-a-thons takes planning and cooperation. Activities that involve friendly competition may also involve strategizing and problem-solving skills.

The spirit of holiday teambuilding is also about inclusion. During Magnovo workshops, participants build wheelchairs at our WheelCharity Workshops and wagons at our Wagon Builders Workshops.

And without exception, every member of each team feels that their contribution is valued; their efforts appreciated. They know what they did matters to their team and to the gift recipients.

Every holiday has one thing in common: food! Puttin Pantry Workshops provide non-perishable nutrition to local food pantries. Workshop participants are always gratified to know that they’ve helped feed a lot of hungry families.

Deployed military personnel are always grateful to received snacks and other goodies stashed in Magnovo’s Mission: Military Care packages. They make the holiday a happy time because home feels a little closer. And the corporate employees who pulled together to package the cookies, candies, and other treats make an emotional connection with these soldiers.

Holiday teambuilding and charitable giving can help make this holiday season a merrier one!

Rob Jackson: Teambuilding With a Purpose

The benefits of teambuilding

Over a decade ago I walked away from a successful career in banking because I recognized a niche in the marketplace for personal development to train people to become better professionals.

It was a big risk, but my mantra is “Change the world, don’t just play the game.” So I launched a new career in professional development, teambuilding, and DISC personality training.

My initial focus was on corporations and small companies. I taught and trained in communications skills, leadership styles, management, and presentation skills based on an understanding of personality types.

Charity and the Return-on-Investment

But my passion is teambuilding with a purpose and that purpose is philanthropy at the corporate level. When I signed on to the company my one proviso was that we had to develop a philanthropic arm to the whole operation.

When I became the CEO, I developed charitable teambuilding workshops based on the notion that while you’re giving back to your community you can still have fun. We partner with companies to train their workers in professional development techniques, but the major component is charitable giving.

Our donations run the gamut from bikes, wheelchairs, and wagons to stuffed animals, school supplies, and hospital care packages. We partner with food banks to whom we donate dry goods, canned foods, and water. Magnovo works with animal shelters to provide forever-homes for pets. We work with disabled veterans and a variety of other organizations to give back to local communities in the cities where our clients are based.

The business of kindness

In today’s marketplace, corporate social responsibility is now part of most company business models. Progressive companies recognize the benefits of being good corporate neighbors.

Magnovo Training Group helps with this goal and our approach is turnkey. We customize each workshop to suit the goals of our clients. Our facilitators coordinate every aspect of the workshop including the liaison with the charitable organization chosen to receive the donations.

Our workshops are usually at least a couple of hours long. We divide large groups of employees into small teams each of which engages in a bit of friendly competition to “earn” the different components or parts they need to assemble their donations.

Teambuilding impact

For example, during our stuffed animal workshop, also known as Rescue Buddies, each participant literally stuffs and shapes the toy animals. The toys are then donated to traumatized kids in need of emotional rescue [after a car accident or house fire].

At the end of each workshop, a representative from the charity talks to the group about the potential impact their donations will have. Their constituents include low-income families, disabled veterans, deployed personnel, and the like.

It’s usually at this point that the company employees have an epiphany. They realize that the workshop they enjoyed wasn’t just about fun and games and teambuilding. They understand that what they spent the afternoon doing will change many lives in a tremendously positive way.

The Magnovo brand

Magnovo Training Group In The NewsMany of our clients are Fortune 500 companies. And our reputation is such that our facilitators travel across the country and around the world. One of our recent assignments involved a leadership development workshop for a cruise line in Italy. And one of our most hair-raising adventures occurred in Hawaii after an earthquake. We arrived in time to experience quite a few aftershocks!

Our teambuilding and professional development training couldn’t happen if I didn’t have a phenomenal team of facilitators. We usually get requests 1 to 2 months before the main event, but we’ve also delivered the goods with just a few hours notice.

We operate like a well-oiled machine and hit the mark every time. And that’s not just about our professionalism–it’s about our commitment to charitable giving. It’s the fuel that keeps us fired up. We’ve proven time and time again that giving back makes you and your company move forward.
