PricewaterhouseCoopers Sends RescueBuddies to Kids in Dallas, TX

Working with the folks at PricewaterhouseCoopers, we helped them make a big impact on local kids in a short period of time through a RescueBuddies™ charity team building event.

PricewaterhouseCoopersA RescueBuddies™ Event in Dallas, TX

PricewaterhouseCoopers had a large group that they wanted to participate in a team building program. The company also wanted staff to have a chance to give back to the community. Our RescueBuddies™ event offered them both!

Instead of meeting them at a conference center or hotel, we worked with the company to set up a program at their offices. By assembling stuffed animals for kids in need, employees could practice important soft skills like problem-solving, strategizing, and interpersonal communication through practical methods.

Working with the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department provided an immediacy to the project; as Dallas-based employees, they were helping kids in their ‘hometown’, and that made a real difference in their commitment to the work. These RescueBuddies™ weren’t for any kids, they were for ‘our’ kids.

A Lot of Hands-on Work in a Little Time

We met up with about 70 people from PricewaterhouseCoopers. Everyone was enthusiastic and ready to get started. We had only about 90 minutes, so it was important for all of us to get straight to work. Fortunately, everyone had already divided into teams. A couple of mini-ice breaker games loosened up the group. Then we handed out RescueBuddies™ parts for assembly.

While it appeared that people were merely putting together stuffed animals for a local charity, like the RescueBuddies™ themselves, there was much more to it. Teams worked through all of the frustrations and challenges we set before them in ways that supported personal growth and learning, as well as team building and interpersonal relationships. The stuffed animals were created to provide comfort to area kids when distributed through the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department.

PricewaterhouseCoopers Helps Area Kids in Crisis

All of the team members took their tasks seriously. There was a definite shift in the vibe from simply working together to sincere collaboration and teamwork. Overall, PricewaterhouseCoopers completed dozens of stuffed animals for kids. Even Elaine Maddox, who was on hand to accept delivery of the RescueBuddies™, was impressed.

We were thrilled to have her in attendance so that she could speak to the group about where their donations were going. She also shared several first-hand stories of helping children in traumatic situations. Ms. Maddox explained how the simple act of sharing a stuffed animal could provide meaningful comfort and relief to children.
