What Is DISC Personality Training?

DISC personality training is a workshop built around the DISC model, a behavioral framework that describes how people work across four styles: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Conscientiousness. Participants take a DISC assessment, learn their own primary and secondary style, and discover how to recognize and adapt to the styles of everyone around them.

Magnovo's version is the Campfire Circle™ DISC Workshop, Rob Jackson's signature six-module program. It goes beyond a personality label to give your team a shared language for communication, a practical toolkit for reducing conflict, and a clear path to leading at the highest level.

The Four DISC Styles

DISC describes four behavioral styles. Most people are a blend, with one or two that lead. In the Campfire Circle™ framework, each style has a personality type.

Dominance

Spotlight · The D Style

Direct, decisive, and driven. Fast-paced and task-oriented, motivated by challenges and control.

Disco Light logo

Influence

Disco Light · The I Style

Energetic, enthusiastic, and inspiring. Fast-paced and people-oriented, motivated by recognition and fun.

At their best: magnetic communicators who build relationships and rally the room.

Steadiness

Torch · The S Style

Steady, supportive, and sincere. Moderate-paced and people-oriented, motivated by security and teamwork.

Conscientiousness

Lighthouse · The C Style

Precise, principled, and perceptive. Moderate-paced and task-oriented, motivated by accuracy and quality.

At their best: analytical thinkers who set high standards and build reliable systems.

These four styles are the foundation of our Campfire Leadership™ workshop too, where the goal is to become a balanced Campfire Leader™ who can draw on all four.

What DISC Is, and What It Is Not

One of the first things we clear up sets the tone for the whole experience.

DISC Is

  • A behavioral assessment, not a personality label
  • A tool for self-awareness and better communication
  • A shared language for teams
  • Descriptive: it describes how you behave
  • Flexible: your style can adapt to the situation
  • Research-backed and validated since 1928

DISC Is Not

  • A test with right or wrong answers
  • A box that limits who you can become
  • An excuse for poor behavior
  • A predictor of intelligence or skill
  • A ranking of better or worse personalities
  • The complete picture of who you are

Hands-On From Start to Finish

This is not a lecture. Participants learn DISC by living it through interactive activities woven through the day.

The Four Corners Exercise

Participants gather by style to share what drives them, what frustrates them, and what they need from others.

The Email Rewrite Challenge

Teams rewrite the same message for each DISC style, then present and explain their choices.

The Decision Deadlock

A role-play where each person leads with their style to resolve a real-world team decision under pressure.

The Goal: Become a Campfire Leader™

A Campfire Leader draws on all four styles, knowing when to drive (D), inspire (I), support (S), and analyze (C). They are warm and inviting, people are drawn to them, and they illuminate the space around them. The Campfire Circle™ DISC Workshop is how your leaders get there: self-aware of their natural style, fluent in all four DISC languages, and able to build trust with every personality type.
